My first Anne Tyler. Interesting, strangely affecting. A story set in one day of a couple/family, about 'nothing'. A sweet sense of all-encompassing generality, the daily and mundane, universal complications of relationships. Not great, but I will definitely read more of her work. 7.5.

Ooops! I can't believe that I forgot to journal this. And then to add to the utter rudeness on my part .... I didn't even release it properly. I am so sorry everyone ..... I seem to be getting quite forgetful these days. Back to the book .... I always find Anne Tyler's books extremely readable. This one, however was, a little different to the others, .... mainly because I was irritated with one of the main characters ..... Strangely enough, two-thirds of the way through, I started looking at this character in a different light and actually began to enjoy the book. (There were parts in this book that I strongly identified with ... and there were little things in it that were quite special.) This book was set in a 24 hour period .... and I still can't get over how Tyler managed to stretch it out .......

Thanks heaps for sending it this way catbot. I am glad it reached you safely rmjwold :) Cheers x

Oh my goodness! I couldn't believe that I have had this book on my shelf for so many years. I have finally read it.
I enjoyed it, the Maggie character was ridiculous with her interference in everyone's lives, but I couldn't help but sympathise with her in a way.

I will take this book to our next meet up of Canberra Bookcrossers in a couple of weeks and find a new reader.

Again, sorry for holding onto this for so long.
