Although I love VMcD's standalone novels and adore Tony Hill/Carol Jordan story arc, I fear I just cannot get on with Kate Brannigan. Sorry Val!

Living in Salford I'm a bit biased with the Kate Brannigan stories as I always have a rough idea of where she's describing which makes it a bit more interesting!

Different Cover.

Mystery and Thrillers are my favourite genre but I think reading one after the other might not be a good thing. I had just read a thriller with a strong woman character and this one has Kate. Different backgrounds but similar personalities. Both travel europe looking for criminals. So when reading this I had to keep reminding myself which book I was now in :)

I like Val McDermid books and Kate Brannigan is no exception, however I won't be rushing out to buy the rest of the series until I have finished all the other mysteries on my bookshelf!
