From Amazon: "Only one quarter into the 21st century and our planet is displaying disturbing symptoms: storms, floods, mud-slides, tornadoes and blizzards afflict the globe's surface, while heatwaves, droughts and deep-freeze are regular occurrences. Not to mention volcanoes and earthquakes. Many believe that mankind's consuming lust for economic growth is fast wrecking the world, while others insist these changes are all part of the planet's natural cycle. Whatever the truth, the most alarming factor is that the Earth is beginning to tilt on its axis ...and worldwide panic is looming. As governments, experts, corporations and disruptive forces squabble to be heard, it is up to individuals to seek a solution to the most horrifying geophysical scenario we have ever faced".

Picked up as a possible read for Jare's Chills and Spills Challenge - I thought it might suit the nature's revenge or end of the world? themed month

Journal Entry 2 by dixxy-D from York, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, February 2, 2010
I started this a few days ago (in Jnuary, so hopefully it will count for the Chills and Spills Challenge!)It was Ok I guess. I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought i would - I like disaster stories, and generally end of the world books and this looked like both, but it was a bit heavy handed with its rich people cause end of world through greed and exploitation of the planet (and fiddling with the weather for the few rich countries/areas). I appreciate this argument a lot but wasn't particularly impressed by the way the author told it. It jumped around for a while, for obvious reasons, but I didn't find that engaged me in the story very well. Also despite my support for managing our behaviour to protect the planet I found some of this really far fetched, particularly the ending! (I wont say more or I might give away the thrills!!)

The previous readers are always happy to hear what happened to a book! It's free and anonymous to write a journal entry. Happy reading!

Releasing for Jare's Chills and Spills Challenge 2010 - my first release of the year for january, the theme is end of the world books. I'm a bit late but hopefully still within the timeframe allowed!
