Journal Entry 1 by rapturina from Yantai, Shandong China on Saturday, March 28, 2009
I'm a big fan of Marian Keyes, though it's been ages since I read any of her books. So I was really looking forward to reading this book and I wasn't disappointed. I found it very enjoyable and interesting, though I'm not too big a fan of telling a story from different characters. It takes such a long time to introduce all the characters & their backstory, as well as explaining their involvement in the book's main story, that it doesn't really push the narrative forward as much as I would've liked. Some characters were also far more interesting than others, and the tone was so unbelievingly different between Lola and the other three characters that the book seemed very disjointed. It almost reads like two completely different books. Having said all that, I still really enjoyed the book, especially the Lola and Grace parts. Marian Keyes is a master in her genre and many of Lola's antics made me laugh out loud, whereas Grace is a really interesting and realistic character.

Journal Entry 5 by antonettes at Arnhem, Gelderland Netherlands on Sunday, July 31, 2011
The book was totally different than I expected. I thought I was going to read some cheesy chicklit but it ended up being more than a romance novel. I will not tell you what else the book was about because I certainly didn't have a clue in the beginning. I thought all the trannie stuff was a bit over the top but other than that, Lola was definetely my favorite character. Or maybe Grace. At least I thought that Marnie should just get herself together and reconsider her life. And Alicia, well yeah, she's such a small part in the book... Anyway, it was a nice read and I this will accompany me on a trip to Iceland where I am gonna leave it with one of my friends.

agree with antonettes; it's far more than a cheesy romance and my favorite character is definitely Lola but I will not say more ... ;-)
