Stumbled upon a great used book seller in Brisbane. What a find! Withdrawn library books for $3.00. Didn't really have time to browse to my heart's content: my husband was with me, it's a big warehouse sort of place with NO AC and it was stinking hot! But managed to grab some great reads, this being one.

I read other things by this author, and I have to admit, the first few pages were not promising, but it turned into a great read.

I know my BC meet up group in Perth is going to enjoy it

Picked up at the Perth BC Meetup yesterday! I've read 'Unless' by Carol Shield and enjoyed it and that's why I picked up this book. Onto the pile it goes!! :-)

I'm not sure whether it was because it was a hardcover, but this book looks much more intimidating than it actually turned out to be. Indeed, I loved this story - much more than I remember loving 'Unless' (though I enjoyed it well enough!). There is a great build up in the story - so much so that the two protagonist don't meet until halfway into the book! (And when you realise they're about to, what a lovely build up of tension it is!!). And learning Tom and Fay's backstory is vitally important for the book, because - to be honest- if it had started with them meeting and experiencing 'love at first sight' (and the ensuing drama in their romance), then I would probably be rolling my eyes...

We are having a bookcrossing meetup this weekend so I will take it along to that and see if I can interest anyone in taking it home.
