Girl with Green Eyes
10 journalers for this copy...
I've had this book for ages and ages, and finally picked it up last night as I wanted a quick read, and the fact it's one of the 1001 books to read before you die was another plus. I enjoyed it more than I was expecting, and the end was definitely not what I had been expecting. Parts of it were really funny too!
Will be a bookray:

Arrived safe and sound today and I was amused to see its original price - 3/6 (three old shillings and six old pence)! It's an antique but just as readable as a modern book of course. I have read Country Girls and this is the next in line so I can take it off my wishlist now.
Thank you lucy for including me and making me the first in the ring. It shouldn't be too long before I get to it - just have to finish half of my current book before I begin.
Finished this book this morning and it was just as entertaining as Country Girls. A naive account of a young Catholic Irish girl's love for an older, married man and her relationship with her domineering father and her best friend Baba. Easy to read and very enjoyable.
I will PM the next in line and get it moving on its way ASAP.

Safe journey little book.
Came in this morning's post - and thanks for the card too, from one OAP to another.
Hey we are not old, so I'm told, just in receipt of state pension. We are the post-war baby boomer generation who may have burnt our bra's in the 60's. I personally did'nt as generously proportioned.
Read The Country Girls years ago and enjoyed so feel an early night coming - - -
Read and enjoyed

I received this a while ago, apologies for not journalling sooner, will read asap!
This book arrived on my doorstep today. Will get to it asap as I have one more bookray before this one. Thanks for sending it on Drykid xx
I was a little unsure about this book as I found Caithleen a little distasteful although I'm not sure why. The ending proved to me just how childish and naive she really was.
The story as a whole though, I enjoyed and I am pleased to have read it. Thanks for sharing Lucy xx

Off to Jo, the next in line xx
Received safely - thank you Danielle! I promise to get to this as soon as I possibly can Lucy :)
I have to say that I didn't overly enjoy this one. Caithleen annoyed me - I didn't like her naive and needy character. In fact, I didn't warm to any of the characters at all. A bit of a disappointment for me overall, as I felt ultimately that the storyline lacked any real substance.
Thanks Lucy for including me - that's another 1001 off my list:)
Sending on now to the next in line.

On its way to cally-c! Hope you enjoy it more than I did! :)
Arrived yesterday. I haven't read any of Edna O'Brien before, so I'm looking forwards to this one.
Easy to read & a good story - but I didn't warm to any of the characters! I wanted Caithleen to find her independence, so her comments at the end were disappointing.

arrived today thank you
Sometimes I accidentally read 1001 books, it's not a target of mine. With this one Iwondered how it was chosen from her many books to appear on the list. Naive character but an easy quick read, thanks for sharing.
