First Auster's work for me.
I was asked to read this book, instead of choosing it at random myself. I'm not really into best-selling authors and took the task with a bit of apathy, but I couldn't help ending up quite hooked on the story, although I didn't quite like how Auster chose to end it.
I've been looking around for a nice review to give to you, but I think the short introduction impressed on the back of the book itself, is the best one if you want to take the story objectively and openly. So here it goes:
'The Brooklyn Follies tells the story of Nathan and Tom, an uncle and nephew double act - one in remission from lung cancer, divorced, and stranged from his only daughter; the other, hiding away from his once-promising career, and life in general.
When Lucy, a little girl who refuses to speak, comes into their lives there is suddenly a bridge from their pasts that offers them the possibility of redemption.'
