I had this on my wishlist for a couple of years, then I finally bought it, by complete coincidence, in the same week that I saw Slumdog Millionaire, the movie that was made from it. Now that I've seen the movie I'm sorry to say I probably won't bother to read the book. I took it off the shelves in a fit of weeding the other day. Available now.
Going out on a bookring, US-only to keep the mailing costs down. On second thought, I've heard this book is as good as the movie, but very different, so I do want to read it after all when everyone else is done. So far we've just got one person: indygo88, in Indiana.

That was quick! Thanks for accommodating me, flora! And this is my first look at the BC reusable mailing envelope. Cool! I'll save it for use for passing on this book! :')
I think I'm in the minority when I say that the movie was a disappointment after reading this book. I enjoyed this novel quite a lot. With a unique timeline plot, which was a bit confusing for me at times, it ultimately pulled the book together in a necessary & fulfilling way, with a few surprises that I wasn't expecting thrown into the mix. Having watched the movie immediately after finishing the book & expecting so much after all of the awards & hype, I thought the movie would've been better had it been adapted more closely to the book. The basic elements were there, but a lot was different & I had trouble coming to terms with that. But this is a book review & not a movie review, after all, so after all is said & done, I thought this was an excellent read. It was at times unrealistic & maybe a little bit too coincidental, but it ultimately ended up being a feel-good book, in my opinion.
I'll be wrapping up the book this weekend & it should be on its way to rebeccaljames on Monday! Thanks again, flora, for offering this up! :')
I receivced this book a while ago. I will get to it as soon as possible. Thank you for sharing.
Oh wow - can't believe I forgot to journal this when it got here! It arrived here in Jerusalem 2 weeks ago. Thanks Rebecca!
Will write a review here when I get the chance.
Read it over a long weekend at a friend's house in Be'er Sheva, Israel.
Sent it off to BethanieKay in Texas a few days ago from Jerusalem-Yafo Street Mall post office in Jerusalem.
Travel safe!
Wow, hard to believe this arrived so quickly after traveling all that distance! I'm just finishing up another book now, then will start this. Thanks for including me!
I've seen the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire', and to be honest, some parts of the movie confused me, so I thought maybe reading this book would clarify things. Well, the movie was made in the same general theme as the book, with the same vital parts, but the details were different (so it didn't really answer the questions in my mind) but honestly, I enjoyed the book better, so all's well that ends well :) I thought the book was very intriguing, and I was pleasantly surprised at some of the twists in the story and unsuspected things that were revealed. Admittedly, some of the shifts in the timeline were a bit confusing, as the story is very definitely not linear, but after a while I got used to it. Kudos to the author for coming up with such an interesting plot - and it reminds us all that intelligence is not always conventional, and knowledge doesn't always come from schooling or books!
All in all, this was a really good book, I'm so glad I was able to participate in this bookring!
I've PMd the next in line for an addy and will get this in the mail ASAP.

I just received the book, thank you so much for including me in this ring. I have a couple books a head of it and then I can't wait to read it!
I really enjoyed this book, thank you so much for including me. After seeing Slumdog Millionaire and really enjoying it I thought that it would be fun to read the novel it was based off of. I have to say that I was surprised at how different they were. As mentioned the main idea is still there but a lot of the characters from the books are missing. I can't say which one I enjoyed more as they really are different.
I read this a little faster than I planned on so I will get the next address now.
Update: ComradeCamper has been asked to be moved to the bottom of the list.

Woohoo! Look what just came in this afternoon! I'm really anxious to get started on this one, but I've got three other books ahead of it. I shouldn't be too long, though. (One looks like a quick read, while another...well, I'm afraid I have to admit to skimming a bit.)
Thanks for passing it along! And also, it's always great to see other environmentally conscious bookcrossers. ;)

I thought I'd sent this one off, along with
The White Tiger several weeks ago. I remembered passing these two books off to Mum when I got a little too busy with school. Unfortunately, she ended up in the hospital and forgot all about these books until she saw me with another batch of books.
I'm sorry it took so long, but things have been crazy here. I mailed this one out late last week. I hope it arrives soon!
This book has arrived home. I let it go over the weekend at the Book Thing of Baltimore.
