I have to admit I was very disappointed by this novel. The characters did nothing to inspire sympathy and the ending was so ambiguous as to be infuriating. All the way through there's this mystery about Rosa and what happened to her and I was disappointed when it was all actually revealed. However, I did learn a lot about the Crimea that I didn't know. So I gave it 3 stars for historical accuracy but not much story.
