I really, really enjoyed this book. Possibly one of the best 1001 books I've read so far.

I found the beginning quite slow, but the middle section, and the part set in New Mexico was absolutely amazing. Heartbreaking but amazing.

I rearranged the mailing list to make it cheaper for me, heh heh, so this is now on its way to platypussj. But doh! I could have asked lucy-lemon to send this straight to her. Never mind.

Hope you enjoy it, Jo!

I like the look and feel of this book already, just looking at the cover and reading the synopsis is making me drool in anticipation. It's next up after I've finished Black Swan Green by David Mitchell (another 1001 author - Cloud Atlas).

Thank you shnedwards, for organising the ring and for posting to me. Thank you lucy-lemon, for giving up your uncorrected proof to the cause. I'm most grateful to you both. xx

I found this to be a fascinating book, very rich and very moving. I enjoyed the narrative, the personal journey, the way in which three films were described in a way that enables the reader to visualise them so vividly and conveyed the passion of the viewer and those involved in the making of the films.

As perfect-circle has asked to be skipped I will be posting on to ealasaidmae over the next couple of days.

Thank you again for the bookray.

What a great story. I'm a fan of silent movies so the descriptions of Hector's films was a big bonus. Thanks so much for this one, shnedwards. I really enjoyed it. I've PMd corry000 for her address though it doesn't look like she's been active for a while. If she doesn't respond in the next couple days I'll skip to the next reader.
