For Ellie Nielsen buying a piece of Paris is a dream. So she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with her French phrasebook in hand...
This was funny, witty and overall a great read. Normally I don't like memoirs, but this book is quiet different and very "parisienne". Highly recommended. (Amazing what one can find at the flea market!)
This will be a bookray.

Hi the book arrived today. I look forward to reading it
Just to let you know, I have started on this book. Good so far. I have a lot of bookring books on the go at the moment! I am sorry for the hold up!
I tried hard to get into this story. i read about 100 pages and gave up. I don't like to give up on bookrays/rings but I really did find this book hard to get into. It was easy to read but I just bored.
I'm sorry. Thank you for sharing the book.

It wasn't the most thrilling, in fact I was looking to see if it was a vanity publication.
However the tales of the French treatment of foreign speakers ring very true, patiently waiting for us to ask our question correctly in their own language and then adding another question until they are satisfied that both they and we know exactly what we want.
I find it entertaining and educational and never insulting. (and I've always ended up with the correct thing)
As a novel/biography it's just way too long, Stephen Clarke covers it far better and his successes did start with a print run of 500!

Book arrived today. Good timing. I'm hoping to read this before I go on my honeymoon. Got a little over a week to read it.
Interesting book about buying an apartment in Paris. I've spent a little time in Paris, but not enough to fall in love with the city. I do plan on going back to see if I love it as much as Ellie did. It was a nice easy read and overall, I really enjoyed it.
