Just got it. Thanks for trading.
When I open an Elmore Leonard book I know I’m in for some cool characters, killer dialogues and a tight plot. He does it very well and this book is just another proof, if any was needed.
The plot is tight and the action fast paced but very realistic, the characters are great, even the smaller ones. Armand and Carmen stand out as the most interesting characters but Richie, Donna, Wayne and even Ferris are very well built, even if they’re a bunch of egocentric bastards.
The way the author goes about telling his story is very cinematic and every word counts, he doesn't waste any and that makes it quite a treat for the reader.
I really enjoyed reading this book and once I got into it I just couldn’t put it down, it really grabbed me all the way to the end, and that’s what Leonard does best, he grabs you and bounces you around in this underworld for about 300 pages and then let’s you off like it’s no big deal. Amazing stuff.
If you like cool urban crime fiction you can’t get any better than Elmore Leonard or James Ellroy.
