I've enjoyed Yarbro's "Count St. Germain" novels and stories over the years, and after reading this collection of short stories thanks to another BCer, I decided to get my own copy. This is a somewhat-battered paperback, but still quite readable, and the stories included here touch on several periods in St. Germain's long life, with a running theme of his poignant love affair with Madeleine de Montalia, presented mostly in between-the-stories letters which add hints of hope that there may be something more for them in the future.
There's also an essay by the author concerning the historical St. Germain; entertaining reading.
Of the stories, I think "The Spider Glass" is my favorite, but they're all very good - and since I like Roger so much [I've always had a soft spot for cool, competent sidekicks], I enjoyed "Renewal" and "Cabin 33", which gave him a bit more to do.
I believe that there's a new collection of stories out there, and if it includes all of these plus some new ones I may get a copy. If I do, this one will be available for release, but until then it's a keeper.
