Thanks so much for bringing this - now I only have one more Canada Reads book to get my hands on. Must read fast... Nice to see you yesterday!
I quite liked this. The characters really grabbed my interest and I was intrigued to watch as their various lives and problems became intertwined throughout the course of the novel. I found that structuring the book so that all the action takes place in one day really worked well; even though only a few hours passed, there is a timeless feel to the story (helped out by the knitting ladies next door, I'd wager). Although sometimes the translation felt a little awkward, overall I rather enjoyed this book. I understand that this is the first of a six-book series about the inhabitants of Plateau Mont-Royal, and I would be interested in reading the others, although not all seem to have been translated into English yet.
This book really reminds me of another book, but I can't recall exactly which one...
Thanks so much for passing this along!

Mailed this off to zzz a couple of weeks ago as his Indecisives book...hope you like it, and sorry that it's late.
Oh gosh! This is such a fantastic pick! This book is on my wishlist I for ages!
I've read an interview with an author and I loved how he talked about the motifs to write this book.
Thank you so much!
