Journal Entry 1 by Poobah1 from Lake Elmo, Minnesota USA on Friday, February 20, 2009
This is an advanced reading copy. For release. Edited: I picked this up because it looked interesting and I had bought a pile of books at my indy bookseller and I got one ARC Free with the purchase. I never got around to reading it and Spuddossis won my drawing and I think this is the one she requested. After it's gone through a few people who've raved about it I've asked to be added to this book ring so I can see what it's all about! Funny...can't wait to read it! Welcome to BookCrossing! It's a site for catching and releasing books and spreading the good karma of reading! Please make a journal entry when you FIND this book and let previous readers know how you came upon it. You may remain anonymous on this site if you like but it's very safe and spam free. We leave books around for others to stumble upon...they read, and then re-release in a public place for someone else to enjoy. Of course you're welcome to keep the book if you prefer but it's more fun to watch them travel and to hear from them once in a while. I hope you enjoy the book but I especially hope you enjoy BookCrossing. Make the *WORLD* your library!

Journal Entry 5 by spuddossis from Garfield, New Jersey USA on Thursday, August 20, 2009
From the back of the book: Meet Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison, a taste for homocide, an obsession for delving into the forbidden past of her taciturn, widowed father......and did we mention she's eleven years old? I found this an extemely entertaining read! I believe this may become a series, an if so, I think I might be hooked! Thanks again for this great read, Poobah1! In order to pass this one along I'm going to offer it as a RABCK.

Journal Entry 7 by JDT from Pleasanton, California USA on Sunday, August 30, 2009
wow - a wonderful read! I couldn't put down this humorous, clever, atmospheric mystery til I finished reading it. Set in a small English village in 1950, this unique murder mystery grabbed me from the first paragraph. The complex 11-yr-old heroine Flavia is bright, vengeful, wicked-with-a-heart, likeable. Many twists and turns to the story - just go with it and enjoy! Thanks again for your RABCK, spuddossis!

What a fabulous new heroine Alan Bradley has created in Flavia. I liked everything about her, and hope this is the start of a series. I look forward to learning more about chemistry and other esoteric subjects such as the stamp collecting that figured so large in this book. It's on its way to guinneth now.

At last! In an amazing feat of reading I managed to finish this book after several months of slow reading. And what a charming book it was. It was definitely no fault of the author, but of my own busy schedule, that I've had this book for so long. Thank you so much for sharing it! As a note to future readers, I don't recommend taking so long to finish as it blurs the details in one's head. Skipping etherea by her request and sending along to inksmudge early next week.

I loved it! It has reminded me of the books I used to read as a youngster when I first developed a love of reading. My favorite genre is mystery/thrillers and this has fit the bill. Also the fact that I love stamp collecting was just a major bonus as I had no idea despite the cover artwork that this was a mystery about philately. I hope we will be seeing much more of Flavia de Luce soon. I have sent a pm to the next person on the list, Valpete and will mail it out as soon as I have an address.

Journal Entry 20 by Poobah1 at Lake Elmo, Minnesota USA on Tuesday, June 15, 2010

This little gem stopped by my house again today! As you may or may not have noticed...I started this little bugger off on its journey. I didn't read it when it lived here before, then once I had sent it off and so many of you had loved it I asked to be added to the ring! She's been well loved since I've seen her. I just have my sons high school graduation party to get through this weekend and then I'm buckling down to some serious reading time!!!!! I haven't read a thing since April and I'm jones'in for a good read. Thanks for including me.

Journal Entry 21 by Poobah1 at Lake Elmo, Minnesota USA on Tuesday, July 13, 2010
I've had this far too long without reading it and I apologize. Life is definitely getting in the way of reading for me this summer. I don't see getting to this read for a long while so off it goes to Valpete. Twice this little baby has slipped though my fingers...she's just not to be for me right now. I appreciate your including me and again, apologize for holding anyone up. FWIW: I have a hard time doing much of anything on this site since the "upgrade". I'm truly hoping BookCrossing doesn't fade into history for me...but it surely makes it more of a task to play on my beloved site. (In fact, now that I've made a journal entry on this book...it could very likely make this book appear more than once on all of our book shelves...don't delete though - it may then be lost entirely.) Perhaps they're (he is) working on that. Edited after posting: Yep, I've got two of these now :-( As per the BCSupport note...do not delete, the ghost book should disappear within a day or so. Sigh. Edited March 1, 2011: I did eventually come onto another copy of this book and have since read it. http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/8509503/ Crazy. Three times through my hands...this little book wanted to be read.

Thanks, valpete! It was fun seeing this book again - when we picked up our mail after a wonderful trip to Italy (where I read and wild-released 5 books)! This book has enjoyed a lovely year-long bookring journey! Thanks so much to all of you for joining my bookring and keeping it moving. (And thanks to Poohbah1 and spuddossis for your RABCK's that started this book's travels)
