My Review:

Although they are stressing that there is not one obscene word in the book (I only read that in the afterword and didn't re-read the book to check so I just have to take their word for it) I can totally understand why it has been on the index. There are a number of explicit 'sexy' scenes in it.
Somehow I cannot believe that life for prostitutes were so good and they had so much fun with their profession, even if they were 'working' for the higher society and didn't had to live on the street. Maybe this is just some hot dream by John Cleland. Although I also read in the afterword that there is a theory that the book might not have been really written by Cleland but by a woman because the experiences were written distinctivly from a womans perspective. I think that they can easily be made up and mixed together with some male wishful-thinking.
