I loved this book, sooo funny. Anyone who is a working mum can identify with the character and her life (well........perhaps not the jet setting lifestyle and the very well paid job........also,I don't have a nanny or a cleaner......so no probs for me in that dept!) BUT.... all the other bits, mother, wife, endless lists of things to remember..........

This book is taking a long long journey, across the waters. I hope it gets there safely.

This book must have grown it's own wings and flown here, cos it didn't take long to get here from the UK. It's funny that it arrives today, cos we were marvelling at the working mum's I work with as a disability carer support worker, and will be the perfect reading material (not being a mum myself....yet). Have heard great things about this book, and look forward to reading it.

Oh my God! Now there is a powerful birth control incentive, if ever I have read one!! Certainly made me wonder what I am doing running around getting a decent education - what will I do if I have kids!!??
This is a story where you both laugh out loud along with the character, and cringe at the same time.
I enjoyed this read a lot, sort of Bridget Jones style, with chick lit frankness.

Hawkette gave me this to read before she sent it out in a bookray, I had a time deadline so I read it in a day...so much for study!! It was an easy read and very funny but it did made me think about the future and what I would do in the situation - work/family - I was a nanny for a number of years and it certainly makes you aware of how the children, and the parents, miss out on things with each other b/c they are so busy or focused on other things. Overall I enjoyed it and hope that other people do to!

After reading this book you wanna double up on your birth control!
But I really liked this book, it’s very funny.
Although also it a bit sad at times and infuriating knowing that this has to be a true representation of what a working mother faces, with the pressures to handle and remember everything plus the terrible attitudes of the corporate world. Although most working mothers don’t have a nanny, cleaner and pots of cash I’m sure!
I am not sure that I liked the way that the book ended.
But it’s definitely a book I will recommend.

I joined this bookray because Hawkette saw 'I Don't Know How She Does It' on my Wish List - so Thank You!!

Although I did enjoy the book, I don't think it was as good as I had expected - but some of the problems faced as a working mum were DEFINITELY true to life.

Overall, a good read - I'm glad I got the chance :-)

I really enjoyed this novel. Being a "career woman" myself, and currently being pregnant with my first child, it really hit home. I'm still not sure how I will handle/manage career and family. Luckily for me, my job is not as demanding as Kate is, but it is nonetheless somewhat demanding.

I would definitely recommend this book to all my woman friends.

Got this from woodsroy last night at our "fantabulous" Book Club meeting (hosted by yours truly). Thanks! Woodsroy tells me this is a quick read that will really make me think (especially since I plan on having kids in the near future). How can I say no to that? This is going to the top of my TBR pile. Thanks for sharing Hawkette and scout77!

Just finished this off yesterday. I enjoyed this looked at a working mother. It did make me think about what I want to do (or what I'll be able to handle) when I have kids. It kind of scared me! :-) I did like how the book ended -- how Kate has grown and re-assessed her priorities. In all it was a good, fairly light read. It kind of reminded me of the Shopaholic series...maybe more like Workaholic Does Motherhood??

I'll be sending this on to the next on the list soon. Thanks for sharing Hawkette and thanks for convincing me to read this woodsroy!

I finished this book several weeks ago, but with a combination of major problems at work, major projects due for school, and major trouble with my computer this is the first chance I have had to make a journal entry.

I enjoyed this book! It captures the struggle of a working mum (or mom as we say in the US). It was honest, yet amusing and thought-provoking.

I recommend it to anyone who is contemplating the working mom role or any already working mom, as the book shows the reader they are not alone in the struggles they face as a working mom.

Thanks for sharing and I will PM ShyAnn to get this book traveling again.

Meet Kate Reddy, fund manager and mother of two. A victim of time famine, Kate counts seconds like other women count calories. Factor in a manipulative nanny, an Australian boss who looks at Kate's breasts as if they're on special offer, a long-suffering husband, her quietly aghast in-laws, two needy children and an e-mail lover, and you have a woman juggling so many balls that some day soon something's going to hit the ground.

I really did enjoy this book. With my wedding coming up next month, this is something I have to worry about. I'll be getting a copy of this soon for a co-worker of mine who may have to stop working (or at least leave us to stop working shift work) for her kids. My favorite part was the Must Remember at the end of almost every chapter.

Favorite Quote: Emily's questions often shock me, but not as much as the fact that I'm allowed to give her any answer I like. I can tell her there is a God or that there is not a God...I can advise her to be careful who she gives her virginity to or I can give her brisk, early advice on contraception. I can suggest she starts paying a quarter of her annual income into an index-linked pension as soon as possible or I can tell her that love is the answer. I can tell her any damn thing I like and that feeling feels both amazing and appalling.

Quote: At bedtime, an overexcited Emily wants to go over the Easter story one more time. She has been obsessed with it since she figured out last week that the Baby Jesus she sang carols abouyt at Christmas grew up to be the man on the cross.
