This book is my contribution to ApoloniaX's Weird Surprise RABCK Exchange. I think it's weird enough that you never know whether the narrator is a boy or a girl (I don't know if the reason for this is a question of confused sexual identity or something else), but the story itself is weird too and most of it happens in the six-year-old narrator's imagination - which goes a long way to explaining why it is so weird :D My favourite passages were the ice-cream incident at the beginning and the part where the narrator imagines him/herself to be a teacher.
I hope the book is weird enough for you too, Anisha :)

On its way to ApoloniaX in Germany. Enjoy!
This funny, cynical slim book of about 120 pages is truly weird… it consists of disconnected hilarious anecdotes, an end that is as weird as the beginning, trans-gender confusion, an eccentric six-year-old boy or girl, who is constantly analysing her/his surroundings & own life, never doing what is expected, with a bizarre inner world. Some scenes are simply great, other stretch a bit long.
Don’t read it if you need a well-structured plot, don’t read it if you need explanations for everything that you don’t quite understand, don’t expect credibility.
And always remember: Eating strawberry ice cream may have extreme consequences.
By the way, it’s got nothing to do with nuns. But with becoming a writer.
More information here
When I started reading I got that huge craving for strawberry ice cream... almost went out to an ice cream parlour, but then preferred to continue reading. And all of a sudden, after a few pages the craving vanished. Completely. Strawberry ice cream? Yuk! Isn't that weird?
I had some a few days later (and enjoyed it, nothing happened).

Arrived today - thanks a stack - seems like a quick and intriguing read - got some in front of this one but will get around to it as soon as possible.
Right, done & dusted. A strangle little novella and it really falls squarly in the realm of the weird. ApoloniaX's entry covers it all. The aversion to ice-cream hits close to home. I love the stuff and polished off a litre of Creamy Vanila infused ice-cream since Friday. Yum! Heartgirl, my partner says she has never even tasted ice-cream, not even as a child, and certainly in the 15 years whe've been together I never saw he eating it. Says she finds the smell off-putting.

This arrived a couple days ago, perfect timing as I've just finished reading a ring! I can dive straight into this one. Thanks for sending it, mrbaggins - and thank you for the wonderful extras! They were a great surprise!
I am completely bewildered and enjoying every minute of it. In a world where we only seem to take ourselves more and more seriously every day it's nice to be reminded occasionally that not everything has to make sense. Just for the record, strawberry ice cream is truly disgusting. I'm a peach-loving girl (or boy), myself.

This little book was waiting for me when I got back from my holiday in Buenos Aires, what a perfect timing. :) I delved into it immediately, and finished it already. I'm not sure if I liked it, but it was definitely interesting, easy to read and entertaining. Although sometimes I was annoyed by the narrator's eccentricities, in the end I realized I had come to like her.
Thank you for starting this ray, ApoloniaX! I'm glad I had the chance to get to know another Argentinian writer.

The book arrived today, and I really should not start on it straight away as I'm already reading a couple of books... but this one is tempting!
Done! I needed a small book for a weekend away, and this was it.
Strange indeed - and what a way to die!
I'll quote my granny:
I scream, for you scream, and we sream for ice cream!
The book will be off as soon as I've got an address.

Got it! Thanks for sending and sharing. I have quite some books to read in advance, but I should get to this one within reasonable time.
Unfortunately, not my cup of tea at all...boy, girl, poisened, nun...nope, it just did not work. I am asking for the address of the next person on the list.
Off to RonOren.
Thanks, franaloe. After the confusion of trying to recognise the handwriting as belonging to one of my friends or family, this was quite a pleasant surprise. I'll bring it along for the commute, so am certain to finish it within the next few days.
I really don't know what to make of this book. As a story, there isn't really that much to it and the introspective/halucinogenic bits were rather strange. Yet, I could more or less see the quality of the writing, even if it didn't really do much for me. I guess I never really got into it...
Well, I gave it a go, but it's really not my cup of tea. Still, thanks for giving me the opportunity to try it, ApoloniaX. I've PM'ed okyrhoe and will try to get the book moving as soon as possible.

Sent to okyrhoe. Hope it'll be more to your liking than mine...
Arrived in Athens!
Thanks RonOren for posting the book to me, and ApoloniaX for organizing the ring!

Thanks okyroe! It arrived today and some of my children had placed it square on the bench for me to find when I got home from work. Thank you. Such a lovely postcard, also. Thank you.
I read this queer little book in one sitting. It was my intention to give it a quick look over before placing on the top of the tbr's besides my bed until I had finished another ut I simply could not put it down. It was enthralling and unusual....and yes, refreshing. I found the end so disturbing, it will take me a while to rid myself of it! I found myself caught up in the world portrayed, in the horrors (yes, horrors!) that befell the little boy/girl....
Thank you for including me in the ring. I will post it off to Dancesports asap. :)

Thank you - book has arrived safely. I'm adding to my tbr pile but this one looks a quick read so it won't take long when I do get to it :-)
I agree this one is truly weird. I found I enjoyed it more once I gave up trying to understand it but by then I was about three parts through the book. I did find the vocabulary of the six year old character quite amazing and I am still tossing around this sentence in my mind 'What catechisms of feral pedagogy await the perspicacious observer'. This one did jump a few in my book queue mainly because it is a light book and was easy to pack as an extra book when I was travelling for work this week, I started on the flight home and I only had a chapter to go after my plane landed. Marking it as reserved as I guess this bookray will be continuing?
