This book was mostly a bore. I know that Georgett Heyer is considered the mother of all traditional regencies, and I have enjoyed some of her works in the past, but I've always wondered: Did people really talk in long winded speeches that take up an entire page? Does this bother anyone else except me?
I thought that this book started out really slow and the character of the Major remained a bit hazy. It did pick up towards the end and by then the Major has grown on me but I can't say the same for the rest of the family. Definitely not a Heyer I would consider a keeper.
