Quirky, unsettling collection of short stories - her fascination with air travel and crashes play a prominent role in several of these stories. Sadly, she died in a plane crash this past spring....sending on to a fellow bxer
I got this in the mail today ~ thanks so much for fulfilling my wish, skcreader! I will definitely pass the book on at your request. Have to keep the book karma going, ya know!
Hmm....this wasn't quite what I expected. She's not a bad writer, but I felt very unfulfilled with the stories. The majority of them left me with question marks, as if I had missed out on something. None of the stories really stood out for me, and I can't say I had any favorites, although some made more sense than others!
I've had this book for a couple of weeks, and I'm sure I registered it! I guess not, though, because I don't see anything here. I'm going to get to reading it soon, so that when the next bookring comes around (with the story that was continued from this one) I will know what is going on. Thanks skcreader for thinking of me, and thanks ellymae for passing it on! You guys are the best!
Finally got around to reading this. Can't believe it's been waiting 7 1/2 years. Guess I had to be in the right mood. I found Davis' other book much better... I did find Crash interesting... had to go check the pub. date of the book... pre-2001. Found it eerily similar to 9/11. I liked the literary technique used in Faith or Tips for the Successful Young Lady. Found the style in Testimony very off-putting however. I felt the book was unbalanced, and not as cohesive as I'd've liked. That being said, it was not bad... just ok. Not sure where I'm going next with this book...
