Making Money is a Terry Pratchett novel in the Discworld series, published in the UK on 20 September 2007. It is the second novel featuring Moist von Lipwig, and involves the Ankh-Morpork mint and specifically the introduction of paper money to the city. Ankh-Morpork has hitherto not used banknotes. The continuing work of Adora Belle Dearheart (Lipwig's fiancée by this novel) with the Golem Trust is also a feature of the novel.

Oh how wonderfull! I've sent many a RABCK into the world. But this is the first real and unexpected RABCK I've ever had the pleasure to recieve. Thank you so very much Deepswamp! I'm going to save this one to read during a holiday, so I can devote all my time to it!

Journal Entry 4 by wingMoriquenwing from Broechem, Antwerpen / Anvers Belgium on Thursday, June 4, 2009
Thank you for sending the book my way deepswamp, I've enjoyed it immensly. Not only because of the fact that it was a very good and entertaining story, the story has a firm basis in reality. The 'making' of paper money in our real world didn't go very smoothly either, because people didn't trust the fact that it wasn't real gold, silver, copper or any other kind of precious metal.
The figure of Moist in intriuging. He is supposed to be very plain and inconspicuous, with a flambuoyant character that has lots to say and always finds people to listen, ready to laugh.
I adored Gladys the she-golem, who really couldn't be a she-golem because there are no he- or she-golems, there are just golems. She seemed so cute, taking everything she had read almost literally. And last but not least Mr Fusspot, our little chairman, has forever taken a place in my heart. (Or I'd better say, the image of him bobbing around with the 'unnamed' toy of his former owner in his mouth vibrating, is burned into my retina!) :D

This book will travel in a box of summer goodies to my assigned BC'er for the 'Summer Surprise RABCK'. I saw another Pratchett-book in your TBR and I thought I'd add this one. Pratchetts books are the perfect summer read for me, so I hope you'll enjoy him too!

What a Suprise! This book came in a Huge Box with many many goddies! :) Thank you so much Moriquen, I love your Suprise Box.
Beside the book I found a palm leaf bookmark, egg-timer, a salt and pepper set, forming a loving couple, another loving couple as a refrigerator magnet, a mini rose Bath set (shower gel, towel and fizzer), and finally a beautiful rose shoulder bag in the box. Oh, no, almost I missed the yellow-blue-green stripped napkins. Many, many gifts from Belgium no wonder if I count them poorly!!! :)
I am still smiling!
Thanks!

Terry Pratchett is a new writer to me. I have heard of him a lot, and his book covers are interesting, funny, so I promised myself to read his works. And now I got a book! Terry Prathcett wants me to read!!

Thank you very much hakkalina. The book arrived today. Now I see that the book has been in Sweden from the beginning three years ago. It seems like a nice book that I look forward to reading.

Backside: IT'S AN OFFER YOU CAN'T REFUSE.
Who would mot wish to be the man in charge of Ankh-Morpork's Mint and the bank next door?
It's a job for life. But, as former conman Moist von Lipwig is learning. life is not necessarily for long.
The Chief Cashier is almost certainly a vampire. There's something nameless in the cellar (and the cellar itself is pretty nameless), and it turns out that the Royal Mint runs a loss. A three-hundred-year-old wizard is after his girlfriend, he's about to be exposed as a fraud. but the Assassins' Guild might get him first. In fact, a lot of people want him dead. Oh. And every day he has to take the Chairman for walkies. Everywhere he looks he's making enemies. What he should be doing is....
MAKING MONEY!

Edit: My opinion: Moist von Lipwig was a fascinating man who survived a hanging, and therefore was able to cope with the difficult task of getting the bank on it's feet again. He managed to talk his way out of the most happenings. There were many fantastic fantasy creatures in the book and I was very amused by it.
