Picked up to be included in a "water" book box. Enjoy!
Read this one a number of years ago and remember enjoying it. Wish there was a category for historical fiction as this is based on a true story. In fact in 2006 there was an article in the paper about it's 100th anniversary - which I found amazing since I'm here in California and it happened in upstate New York. Good book, one I've recommended to others since reading it.

Chosen from sweetsangria's Water Bookbox. I had actually considered putting this book on my wishlist recently, so I was excited to see this one in the box.
I enjoyed this book and would not mind reading more books by this author. I liked the main character, Matt, as she grew more independent throughout the book and I loved the school teacher, Mrs. Wilcox, as a role model for Matt. It was interesting to read in the author's notes that Grace's story was based on a true story.
I am reserving this book for my historical fiction bookbox, which will begin traveling within the next few weeks.

Hi! Rec'd this in Ladybug74's Historical Fiction Book Box today. This is one of the books that I'll be taking out. I was really hesitant to join a book box, knowing I had so many books already.
This is a novel written around the events that inspired Theodore Dreiser's An American Tragedy, in which a woman is drowned at a very elite upstate NY community. I was intrigued by that novel, by the real events which surrounded it, and I'm sure I'll like this novel, too ... WHENEVER I get a chance to read it!
Thank you, Ladybug74, for organizing this book box!
August 4, 2018: I've just read a slide-show documentary on YouTube about The Grace Brown Murder Case, the real life story that inspired the Dreiser novel, and then realized I still had this book here to be read. Brought it down from the upstairs archives, but not sure when I'll get to it!
August 26, 2021: Started this today. Beautifully written so far. Offered on Dove-i-Libri's 2021 US RABCK Thread (Link)
Sept 9, 2021: No one has claimed this from the RABCK thread. Saved for participation in Booklady331's ABC Virtual Book Box.
Nov 22,2021: Entered into Booklady331's "ABC (Already BookCrossed) VBB"
June 6, 2022: Booklady331 has ended the ABC VBB, and is now being offered as RABCK at Dove-i-Libri's 2022 US RABCK Thread (Link).
