Well, it's a great idea, a guy losing his mind living in a cardboard box in the streets of Japan, but I just couldn't get on with it. It's a shame as I bought the book in Maruzen bookshop in Ginza, Tokyo, whilst losing my mind slowly on the streets of Japan. If you want a really great novel of contemporary Japan, go for Ryu Murakami's In the Miso Soup. It may send you mad, but it'll be worth it.
