I purchased this on my trip to London back in October. Just can resist those great Brit authors and those great Brit covers!

A stunning collection of stories from twenty-two bestselling women’s fiction writers.

In collaboration with Woman and Home magazine and Breast Cancer Care of Britain, twenty-two best-loved women’s fiction authors have generously donated their fiction for an unmissable collection of stories. They tell of friendship and love, passion and betrayal and the brilliant writing, warmth and humour of each of the contributions will make The Sunday Night Book Club an utterly irresistible read.

Authors included in the collection:

Wendy Holden, Maggie O’Farrell, Cathy Kelly, Adriana Trigiani, Patricia Scanlon, Andrea Levy, Joanne Harris, Alexander McCall Smith, Claire Bolan, Katie Fforde, to name just a few.

As with most short-story compilations, some were good and some were bad. This one was better than most, since I didn't actually skip any of the stories. I even finished both (Why did he get TWO?) Alexander McCall Smith stories, and I don't even like his writing.

I was disappointed only in the fact that I thought the stories were going to be about reading and/or books, based on the title. One story was about reading, and it actually was my favorite one. Most seemed to be about forty-something women having epiphanies or mid-life crises. Even though I'm in my forties (barely), I can't really relate.

This was a good collection of short stories. I enjoyed reading most of them. There was one story that had an ending that I couldn't believe. There was one story that I didn't like all that much. Two of the stories I remembering reading previously. Some of the stories made you think. I also did wonder why Alexander McCall Smith had two stories included in this book? Was he the only man who contributed stories?

This book was left in the Little Free Library. It was released for the Never Judge a Book by its Cover release challenge. (Picture of books on the cover, items that are packed when going on vacation)
