This book has been sitting on our bookshelves since we bought it, probably in 1990 or so. It is already well-travelled:
1. Bought from a UK-based bookclub, The Good Book Guide
2. Elst (near Nijmegen) in the Netherlands
3. Hamburg in Germany
4. Wijchen (also near Nijmegen) in the Netherlands.

I can imagine that the television programme based on this book could have been funny, with the possiblity of being hilarious in some of the more absurd scenes, although I have no idea how they would have portrayed the inner dialogues. However, although I forced myself to read it because the poor book has been waiting years for some attention, I didn't really enjoy it very much. I didn't like the style of writing, none of the characters were at all likeable, except perhaps Rebecca, all trying to use people. Very 1980's!
