Journal Entry 13 by hyphen8 from Honolulu, Hawaii USA on Saturday, April 11, 2009
Received today - interesting that this time media mail took only 2 weeks rather than the usual 3 weeks. Thanks to MyssCyn for the pretty labels! This is a very full box, with 29 audiobooks in it. It looks like these are still here from the original list: Anything Considered by Peter Mayle Atlantis Found by Clive Cussler Kicking Over Sacred Cows by Charles Capps Lost Laysen Cassette by Margaret Mitchell The Lost World by Michael Crichton (Abridged) Lucasfilm's Alien Chronicles: The Golden One by Deborah Chester Violets Are Blue (Alex Cross) by James Patterson (Abridged) Watchers by Dean Koontz Contributed by others before me in the ray: Absolute Rage by Robert K. Tannebaum Beyond Survival: The Next Chapter by Gerald Coffee The Cloud Sketcher by Richard Rayner Damaged Goods by Stephen Solomita The Daughters of Cain by Colin Dexter The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham Every Man a Tiger by Tom Clancy Executive Power by Vince Flynn Father's Day by John Calvin Batchelor Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh A God in Ruins by Leon Uris (abridged) Hundred Dollar Baby by Robert B. Parker If It's Going To Be It's Up To Me by Robert Schuller Jim the Boy by Tony Earley The Language of Cannibals by George C. Chesbro A Morbid Taste For Bones by Ellis Peters The Poetry of Walt Whitman The Professor and the Madman by Simon Winchester The Sculptress by Minette Walters Suspense (radio dramas) The Seekers by Daniel J. Boorstin Haven't decided yet what I'm taking out - it will depend in part on what fits in the box! I'd take Watchers if I didn't already have a copy (and it's the Brilliance version as well). I will be putting in: Beyond Survival by Gerald Coffee Big Bad Wolf by James Patterson Blood and Smoke by Stephen King Fighting Fire by Caroline Paul The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne The Main Corpse by Diane Mott Davidson The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger Robert Ludlum's The Hades Factor Stories from The Complete Robot by Isaac Asimov I'll make my decisions in the next few days and get this box moving again next week. I've PM'd batty14 for a mailing address. 4/15/09: received an address for the next person and *finally* got some more mailing tape, so I've sealed up the box and it will go out in the next couple of days. Taking out: Absolute Rage by Robert K. Tannebaum Atlantis Found by Clive Cussler The Daughters of Cain by Colin Dexter The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham Every Man a Tiger by Tom Clancy Executive Power by Vince Flynn Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh If It's Going To Be It's Up To Me by Robert Schuller The Lost World by Michael Crichton The Sculptress by Minette Walters Also listened to Suspense (radio dramas) but put it back in the box for the next person. There were lots of good ones in the box so it was hard to choose! :)

Wow! What a box! It arrived in today's mail and I am sooo looking forward to diving into it and checking out the contents. At first glance, I saw some goodies. I saw the Great Santini by Pat Conroy in there. That will be a definite listen. Thank you so much, jcm, for sending this audio box off to me. I hope that my jeep's cassette deck holds out as I listen to these stories. I will make sure I ray the box forward when I'm finished. Well, off to dig through my treasure. ;-)

I took out a bunch of audio cassettes out of this box and have been slowly replacing them. I tried to replace many of them with never before bookcrossed audiobooks, to add new blood to the pool. I am ready to move the box along and have already contacted a few responsible BCers to see if they are interested in participating. If any of you past participants of this great audiobook bookbox would like to scrounge through this again, just PM me and I will get your name on the list. Hope to have this traveling in about 2 weeks. Thanks Katekintail for a fun audio adventure!

Taking out of the box: Star Trek First Contact: by J.M. Dillard The Wheel on the School When the Women come out to Dance: Stories The Midwife's Apprentice The Best American Travel Writing 2000 Sudden Exposure Rebound The Last Voyage of Somebody the Sailor Madeline The Witches Rob Roy Matilda Putting in: A Thief of Time The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime Life of Pi Vengeance in Death Killjoy Thinner Cold Mountain Ticktock The Body Farm Prayers for Rain Just One Look Prey I think I'll be more in the mood to listen to some children's books than to thrillers, so I took some children's books out of the box and put some of the thrillers I had inside. I recommend The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Although I didn't listen to the audio version, I loved reading the printed book. I sent the box out to nmreader on July 1 with delivery confirmation. Expected delivery date is July 5.

The Cassette Audio Bookbox arrived today. It contained 78 audiobooks and weighed a whopping 30 lbs. I think, once I've switched out what I want to listen to and what I want to put back in, I will split this up into two or three more manageable sized book boxes. Then I will send them all on a continued journey. Thanks for sending the Earreading box my way, jsmeltser!
