This book of laughs arrived on the right kind of day, a wet and dreary one. Dipped into it straight away and it has cheered me up already. Thank you Ffyrestarr for the lovely note and bookmark. I am a very happy person today, even though the weather is grey!

Journal Entry 7 by talkland from Eastbourne, East Sussex United Kingdom on Sunday, July 27, 2003
When I was younger I read a news article about warnings on different products. For example: Hot when in use. That was for an iron!!! I can remember thinking, "People aren't that stupid." Well, I am all grown-up now and I can say that experience has taught me otherwise. Never underestimate how stupid human beings really are because if you forget it someone is sure to come along and remind you. The biggest offenders do seem to be those who make our laws or enforce them. Does the position itself render once sensible people silly? Is it we elect stupid people or that stupid people stand for election? Are we all fools to varying degrees? This book won't give you the answers but it will definitely make you laugh and also wonder if there is any hope for us a species. Are we destined to snuff ourselves out with our silly and frankly often dangerous behaviour? We certainly don't need a giant asteroid to do the job for us, our stupidity will probably be the fatal blow! Hmm! That was a little philosophical. It is Sunday, so what the heck! If one can't muse on life on today of all days we haven't got a chance of surviving to the next decade let alone the next century. Well, that is still a little prosy! This next statement will be my final one, honest! This is a funny book and is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud, (if not you are a miserable git)!

This book is making me laugh out loud. For future readers, I especially liked the story "On Gas Siphoning" on page 62. Too funny! I'm mostly through it and will mail the book out to Mom-of-One next week.

What a great book! Even my husband read parts of it when I put it down so that says a lot about the book because he never reads. I hate to pass it on but I will tomorrow. Mom-of-one asked to be skipped so I'm sending it to caligula03 who is next on the list.

Journal Entry 12 by caligula03 from Hayward, California USA on Saturday, September 20, 2003
Page 75 is one of my favorites from the book. Maybe it's because it's so close to home. It just appeals to me that the Board of Education would hold a secret meeting to decide if secret meetings were permissable. :) My only complaint with this silly book is that I would have liked more (okay -- all) of the stories cited.

Light-hearted read - although I have to admit some were hard to believe. My favorite was on p. 61 - the football game with hearing-impaired players; I said "All right!" out loud! Sending on to palmerspal as soon as I get her address.
