The Devil and Miss Prym
4 journalers for this copy...
From the back cover:
"A community devoured by greed, cowardice and fear. A man persecuted by the ghosts of his painful past. A young woman searching for happiness. In one eventful week, each of them will face questions of life, death and power, and each of them will have to choose their own path. Will they choose good or evil?
The remote village of Viscos is the setting for this extraordinary struggle. A stranger arrives, carrying with him a backpack containing a notebook and eleven gold bars. He comes searching for the answer to a question that torments him: are human beings, in essence, good or evil? In welcoming the mysterious foreigner, the whole village becomes an accomplice to his sophisticated plot, which will forever mark their lives."

Firstly - HUGE APOLOGIES TO Sfogs for not JEing this book. I know I emailed a 'Thank You' - At least I hope I Did!!!!
As for the book, well it is BRILLIANT!!! So much real 'Food for Thought'. Cleverly written, good study of humans and their traits, reasons for doing (or not doing) things, of the conscious mind and our relationship with God and of course, The Devil.
I have never read Paulo Coelho before and I am really impressed with his writing and thought processes.
This was a deceptively short book, but the story and thoughts it provokes will stay with the reader for a very long time after the book has been finished.
Thank you again, Sfogs for sharing this gem with me! :)
