If you are already familiar with BookCrossing, thanks for picking up this book!! Enjoy!!
My friend Joyce found this book on the airplane and asked if I wanted it. We are both avid readers but she just bought seven books from a thrift shop in San Francisco that she was lugging home in her suitcase and just didn't want to add any more. I didn't know what this book was about, only that it was on my wishlist. Lucky me!
Wow-this was a really good book with a suprise ending. It makes you want to read it again! I was going to add this to a bookbox but on second thought, it might make a great ring! I'm going to post a thread and see if there are any takers!!
This book is being offered as an International ring. General courtesy guidelines apply. Please journal the book as soon as you receive it and pm the next reader for their address so that we can keep it moving quickly. Then, journal again when you have finished. If you are backlogged or need to be moved further down on the list, please let me know. Thanks for signing up and enjoy Me & Emma!

I enjoyed this book. Definitely a surprise ending, although I was kinda wondering about that the whole time. This book kinda reminded me of The Glass Castle, which I highly recommend. Thanks 300Dogs! This book has been sent today to it's next home in PA to Shausha! Enjoy! :)
book looks good, am about 1/2 through current book, this will be next, thank you.
very good book, totally blown away by the ending!!! will pm next in line, thanks, glad I read this book
Just got this book today! I am not sure if you know this yet or not but, I had to go to CT. for 5 weeks to take care of my father who had heart surgery. While I was there bookrings/rays piled up on me. I have to read 6 books before this one. I do hope this is OK and I appreciate your patience and understanding while I try and play catch up. I will read all of these books as quickly as I can so as to move them on to the next person in line. Just let me know if this is a problem for anyone. Thanks
Wanted to give an update, this is the next book I am going to read! So soon it will be moving on! Thanks again for your patience and understanding!!
WOW! What a good book! I will be finding and buying a copy to have for myself!! I loved how I had no idea how what I thought was going on changed with the twists in the last two chapters of the book. Once I picked the book up I couldn't put it down:) Elizabeth Flock sure can write. I was so surprised to find out that Emma was just another part of Caroline! I was wondering why her mother was so uncaring the way she acted with Caroline. And when you get to the end of the book you still want to know more. Thank you so much for sharing:) I sent this book off to rosepetal2 today! So glad you decided to make this book a ring!!
This book arrived in my mailbox today. I just finished a book last night so this arrived just in time. I plan to start on it tonight and will journal again when done.
Yes this definitely is a book that you can't put down. Such a sad story though. The ending did make me want to read it again. Thanks for including me in the ring. I will be sending it out to lauraloo29 tomorrow.
Arrived safe and sound. I'm currently reading a bookring, but will keep this one moving. Thank you!
Finished this book on the bus this morning. Definately taken by surprise at the ending. Although in the back of my head I was wondering things. But I think I was distracted by my anger towards abuse.
Interesting on how for some people it is expected that men will be angry and one should know better than to set them off. (i.e. Gammy and Aunt Lillibet).
I think I will always wondering about Carrie and if things got better for her.
This book will be on its way to the UK this weekend. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!! As per the post-it note, I;m NOT going to read any journal entries.
I really enjoyed this book - although I had an idea about the 'twist' from the off. I wonder whether I would have twigged if I hadn't known there was a twist, though, and wasn't looking out for one...
This is a very well-written book, which kept me hooked from the off. The resilience of Carrie's spirit was amazing, and I kept turning the pages to see how well she would deal with the ongoing horrors in her life, particularly the sexual abuse.
The only time I wasn't rooting for her was when she lashed out at Brownie - I'm not quite sure what the author's intention was in having her do that, or why she didn't really feel bad about it afterwards.
This is one of those books that I probably wouldn't have read if I hadn't been introduced to it through Bookcrossing, so thanks very much, 300dogs for sharing it.
It's now on its way to karen07814. I hope you enjoy it.
I have to say I can't read it. Child abuse is a subject I don't read. I can't understand why I signed up for it. Oops. I will send it off as soon as I get the address. Sorry for causing the detour.
Arrived safe at home. Thanks !
Very well done ! I have been caught entirely by the twist. Thanks to have put a note on the first page for not spoiling the end by reading the reviews.
Before this one I have just read "I'not scared", another story of child's disillusion.
PMing dastephan6
Will get to it as soon as possible

off to the next person
Received in the mail. Please be patient, it seems all my rings are arriving at the same time.
05/09/10 Update I should be able to start this book in the next week or so. Thanks for your patience.
First I would like to say thanks for including me and sending this my way. I will be sending it back to 300dogs next week. I found the story to be terribly disturbing although, unfortunately, very believable. I did not read the JE's before reading, but I did find the story to be predictable. I guess I figured out the ending, because I just could not imagine any other way that poor child could survive. Once again thanks to all.

I figured out the twist after reading the back cover, so for me the story was an endless liturgy of child abuse and parental neglect. All of the adults stood by and watched this child be hurt, it was astounding.
While the writing was skillful, the interaction between the family members was odd. I think reading it without knowing the twist would make a better story.

Thanks KiwiinEngland for the book, which has arrived safe & sound. Thanks also for the spoiler warnings, as that is something I normally do when journalling a book - check the earlier posts! I'm looking forward to reading it, but do have quite a few in the queue already, so it may be a while.

Finally made it to this book, which I really enjoyed! I didn't twig to the twist ( thanks to the spoiler warnings), although there were a couple of hints in the story, like when Gammy cut Carrie's hair, rather than Emma's.
