Fantastic, but short, account of the author's attempt to grasp some elements of the way that Papago (Tohono O'odham) agriculture and (therefore) culture found a way to integrate with the desert ecosystem -- an 8,000 year process probably, in danger of being lost in a couple of generations.

Read sitting in a chilly rain surrounded by foliage of all sorts at the EarthDance festival; how different a setting from rain in the desert.
