Kev Merripen has longed for the beautiful, well-bred Winnifred Hathaway ever since her family rescued him from the brink of death when he was just a boy. But this handsome Gypsy is a man of mysterious origins—and he fears that the darkness of his past could crush delicate, luminous Win. So Kev refuses to submit to temptation…and before long Win is torn from him by a devastating twist of fate.

Then, Win returns to England…only to find that Kev has hardened into a man who will deny love at all costs. Meantime, an attractive, seductive suitor has set his sights on Win. It’s now or never for Kev to make his move. But first, he must confront a dangerous secret about his destiny—or risk losing the only woman he has lived for…

This book has not been rated.

So I ended up liking this book even less than Mine Till Midnight. I really didn't like Merripen at all, as the whole plot seems to consist of Merripen playing yo-yo with Win - I want you...no I dont...I want you...no I dont. And the reason for his not thinking him good enough for her? It's beyond cliched and not nearly as well represented as in dozens of other novels with the same premise. I thought that Win was a likable heroine despite her tendency to become putty in Merripen's hands if he so much as looks at her.

The only redeeming thing about this book was the portray of the Hathaway family - I still don't like Amelia but thought that the rest of her family very unique and likeable. Leo especially was an intriguing character. Unfortunately, though, Ms. Kleypas seem to be setting him up with a humorless and thoroughly annoying heroine. This is shaping out to a most disappointing series by a favorite author.
