I read this very quickly, well, apart from the first section when Karyn spent all the money which I skimmed. I found the style of writing tedious; but it became more entertaining when she described setting up the website. Reading letters and emails she received were quite funny. I also loved the mailbox man's 'It's not illegal, is it?'
It was quite an entertaining read. My opinion on her setting up the website: it's like the book says, give if you want to - or not - no one was being forced to donate. I liked the funny and forthright way she asked for money. I quite admire that she thought of doing it if not first, then third.
I've looked at the (old) website and it is entertaining. I probably would have donated the eqivalent of a dollar.
I'm going to look out for her second book and see what it's all about. Not sure I really want to buy it though - it'll be a library loan or a wishlist pass-it-on!

Arrived yesterday and I'm already over half way through. I'm still on the part where she's just spending and spending. I thought I had issues with money (as in I never have any) but this woman is just nuts! The whole business with American Express gift cheques and the buying and returning scheme just amazes me.

Thanks for including me!

Journal Entry 6 by Laui from Utrecht, Utrecht Netherlands on Thursday, February 12, 2009
It was in my mailbox today. I have one book I'm currently reading, this one's next on the list. I'll keep you posted on the progress!

(It's good to have this to read next, I'm currently on a horrible shopping spree, buying things I most definitely don't need...)

Journal Entry 7 by Laui from Utrecht, Utrecht Netherlands on Sunday, February 15, 2009
Ahhh, was I quick or what? I just stayed up to finish reading it, I just had to know.

The first bit was a bit... well, not my thing. I doubted if I'd ever get through, but some forcing did the trick and when I got to the part where she starts the website, well, I just couldn't stop. It's amazing! First of all the whole deal as to how she got into the messy debts, but then how the website actually worked, amazing!

The writing style is not stellar, I found that the use of the word 'Anywho' got really, really, really annoying, but thankfully she cut that out at some point. And I have to conclude that she's not a true novel writer (based on just this book). But the whole story is just amazing and therefore the book is worthwhile your reading time!

I'll PM the next reader for their address and mail it on somewhere this week! Thanks for sharing!

I really liked this book. I also had trouble with the first part, but as soon as she started the website... it was just amazing!

I did send a message to the next participant - andthings - on March 30 and April 3, but didn't receive a response. I noticed that there have been problems with the pm system, so that might explain it. But I don't want the rest of the participant waiting any longer, so I decided to ask the following participant - easterngirl71 - for her address.

Added April 16th: easterngirl71 bought the book herself, and asked to be removed from this ring. I did just send a pm to Bug2004.

A mildly interesting story. I LOVED the New York backdrop..that was the best part for me. I thought she tried a little too hard to be funny...to be cute. She went on and on about some things that quite frankly, weren't worth going on and on about. I admire her guts, though. :)

Thanks for sharing!

Will mail off to Carelaisa tomrrw.

the book has finally arrived and reached me!

I'll be quick as I can to read it and pass it on.

Journal Entry 15 by carelaisa from Québec, Québec Canada on Monday, August 31, 2009
Quite an interesting story. Of course, we all have at some point debts but I don't know anyone who have been in her situation. It was entertaining to read though I did read some parts a bit fast as I felt they were redundant and the writing-style wasn't the best...

Nevertheless, I think there are things to be learn from her experience and I know that I wouldn't create a website to help me clear any debt of mine, I would find other solutions before doing such a thing.

I will now pm the next person in line and send the book as soon as I can.

I finally sent the book today, Sept 24th - sorry for the delay, life got into the way...

I sent it airmail so it should be there in a couple of weeks!
