Another great gifted book from my wishlist thanks to ColoBlu6 (my Birthday Buddy). I've always meant to read this one and now I have a chance. I saw a copy of it laying around up at my brothers cabin this fall and I'm always curious to know about the books my siblings read.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you CB6! I'll surely update my wishlist and sooooooo should you :-)

Well! That was quite a read! I don't know exactly what to say about it. I'll start with; For me, it was a very taxing read with this authors style but I truly enjoyed the 1893 World's Fair story. It is a dark, twisted, macabre account of a wild time period in our country's history that encompasses the building and execution of the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago with an interwoven story of murder. It's so fascinating yet extremely disturbing. Larson has really done his homework and put it together in a readable form but the murder line is almost too much to buy. I loved the World's Fair storyline with its architecture and the stresses of design and deadlines. It could have stood on its own without the murder storyline. I'm very glad I pushed through to the end and will recommend it to others but it *is not* for everyone. Wow, I'm exhausted! I'll never eat Shredded Wheat or look at a Ferris Wheel in quite the same way...

Many thanks to ColoBlu6 for this wonderful book from my wishlist!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Left this one for T at my hair salon. I thought of her when I finished it as we both loved "Loving Frank". It has that whole Chicago high society, brilliant architecture element. When she's done with it she'll move it on to someone else. Happy travels!

Cheers,
Poobah1 :^)
