Well what a coincidence! It's evening on a chilly, Minnesota Monday. The sun has just set, I'm not feeling so hot so I'm not preparing dinner. Instead, I am lying on my couch reading The Alchemist which my eldest son gave me for Christmas. He got it by looking at my BookCrossing wishlist. Both my boys are here reading with me, the 17 y.o. is reading The Godfather and the 19 y.o. is reading The Return of the Buffalo on the American Plains. My husband walks in the door from work and hands me two packages..."Oh, look, some books for you." I open one of the two packages and what falls out on my lap?....The Alchemist! This is exactly, in a nutshell what this book is about so far (I'm on page 77)...coincidence, meaningful omens, and faith. Wow, I mean what are the odds of it? This book was published in 1994 - it's not like its a new publication that I'd be racing to get my hands on. I just think it is strangely coincidental that I'm actually here reading the very book ColoBlu6 has just sent me!

Thank you ColoBlu6 for the multiple Christmas packages! What a great surprise-I can't get over how the delivery came off. I'll probably be finishing this nice little story tonight. From what I can tell, I'll be happy to be wild releasing both copies.

7 out of 10

What an interesting little book. The flavor is somewhat "The Little Prince-like". I was reading the copy my eldest son gave me for Christmas when the mail came with another copy of this gem from my Birthday Buddy, ColoBlu6 from California. What a coincidence! In any case, I'm glad I read it and will pass it on in the "wild" way most likely. I hope someone else finds this book and can enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks to J and L...Merry Christmas!

P.S. This was the 55th book I read in 2008!

Wow! Another RABCK - and another book I've been wanting to read. I kept looking at that title and thinking I had read it - but I had to go look it up finally, because when I got the book, I knew at once I had not read it. This is silly, but I got it confused with The Alienist by Caleb Carr - another really good book. But not about the same thing AT ALL!

Thanks again, poobah1!

I will enjoy these and then pass them on!
