The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club: True Tales from a Magnificent and Clumsy Life

I didn't think I wanted to read this book. However, while browsing in the book area of Costco, I picked it up, happened upon a page that made me laugh out loud, and decided to buy it!
5/11: I laughed out loud in parts, and there were even some tears shed (not just from sadness, but from laughing so hard)!
I've changed a bit since high school. Back then I said no to using and selling drugs. I washed on a normal basis and still had good credit.
Introducing Laurie Notaro, the leader of the Idiot Girls Action-Adventure Club. Every day she fearlessly rises from bed to defeat the evil machinations of dolts, dimwits, and creepy boyfriends and that's before she even puts on a bra.
For the past ten years, Notaro has been entertaining Phoenix newspaper readers with her wildly amusing autobiographical exploits and unique life experiences. She writes about a world of hourly-wage jobs that require absolutely no skills, a mother who hands down judgments more forcefully than anyone seated on the Supreme Court, horrific high school reunions, and hangovers that leave her surprised that she woke up in the first place.
The misadventures of Laurie and her fellow Idiot Girls (too cool to be in the Smart Group) unfold in a world that everyone will recognize but no one has ever described so hilariously. She delivers the goods: life as we all know it.

Received in today's mail as a RABCK. Thanks so much - I can't wait to get started with it. Its TBR for now, but hopefully not long.
Read this poolside at the beach on Friday and loved it to pieces. Had to sit on my hands the next morning at Books-A-Million not to buy Autobiography Of A Fat Bride since I am waiting on a bookring for it already.
This is now available for trade, but I may lend it out to my friend who is a damn librarian who refuses to join Bookcrossing first.

ROFL!! I had read Autobiography of a Fat Bride and enjoyed it but The Idiot Girl's Action-Adventure Club is so much better!! Not sure if it was because it was the first book but a lot more laughs. Loved the Candy Apple Freak show!

Ohmigod, I loved this book. I was finishing it in my car this morning before work and laughing my butt off. People kept walking by and looking at me like I was some kind of freak. But it was worth it. I believe my absolute favorite was the story "More Bread, Please." I can totally relate to the burning desire for giant baskets of soft bread rolls, and the humiliation I'm willing to suffer to get more. :) I am mailing this off to savannahblue tomorrow.
rec'd in the mail today, thanks! will read asap and send it on its way (guess i'll have to interrupt my re-reading of harry potter 3. . .;)
enjoyed this book - some of it made me laugh out loud (and i made my friend listen to me read an entire story to her, the one about the family going camping) - and some of it just made me sad, and wondering if the author could use some therapy. . .hopefully her life has smoothed out a bit.
thanks for sharing ~ on to the next reader!

This one arrived today!! Yea!! I'll be reading it tonight & contacting arugh48187 (noticed the numbers were wrong...) to pass it along...
I can't wait to get to it...it looks like everybody has enjoyed this one a WHOLE BUNCH!! :o)

This book was HILARIOUS!! My favorite section was "This is a Public Service Announcement"...all the descriptions of the documented bathroom terrorists were just a riot!! They actually had me laughing out loud at my desk at work!! (And I'm the receptionist!!! -- I was getting a few strange looks, let me tell you!) I also loved the picture of grandpa loading up the backseat with his "found treasure".
This author has plenty to talk about...it is amazing how she is pulling all of these experiences from her actual life. Must be fun to be her!
This one will be on to arugh48187 on Tuesday...she is stopping by my work to pick it up. Thanks all for sharing this with me!! It was just what I needed!! :o)

This one is off with it's next reader, on it's way to Apple Valley! Thanks for stopping by to pick it up, arugh48187!! :o) Hope you enjoy!!
Thanks for the hand-off eriko1908. And the stamps were much appreciated. How did you know I was down to my last one? :)
I have a few rings in front of this one, but I am a fast reader and will get to it soon. You can keep track of its progress via my bookshelf.

Well, I can't say that I found this book as funny as some others did, but it did have its moments. I think that this comes from the fact that I am at a different place in my life than the author was when she wrote most of the articles. Then again, it could be that I am two weeks from my delivery date, have a bad case of baby-itis, and am probably bitchy as hell. ;)
This will hopefully go out in the mail to the next reader on Monday, barring any life changing events. Thanks for sharing and sorry for keeping it so long.

I feel so bad, I have had this book way too long, I had it buried under a mound of other books and evidently forgot it was a bookring.. I am so sorry, to all those waiting for it. I am contacting the next person now, to send it on it's way.. I never did finish it, but I have another copy somewhere, which may be why I thought it was my book.. My apologies.
The book has arrived and I'm looking forward to reading it - thanks for sharing the book!
A very funny quick read. My favorite part was the Stinkin' Drunk Twelve-Step Program.

I'm horrible. I got this book and read it in about two days and it's been sitting here waiting to be journaled since then. This was a great book, I laughed all the way through it. I will PM the next person in line and get this book moving again.
