I wonder what it is about the idea of tiny people living alongside us that has so fascinated us throughout history? From elves and pixies of mythology (and some variation of them seems to exist in most cultures) through to classic children's tales like The Borrowers or The Nutcracker (ok, toys coming to life rather than tiny people, but it's still the same idea of a hidden life alongside ours), we love (and sometimes fear) our little people.

As with many stories of its type, this one explores what happens when the little people have to come out of hiding and make contact with humans, though with a bit of a twist this time, because the dollhouse people are frozen whenever humans are around, so have to find more inventive ways of communicating. There's a nice "boys can play with dolls too" theme going on too.
