Was every woman in this story a red head? There were a plethora of them. Certainly there are not so many red headed gorgeous women in a population that exists outside of a novel, but these gorgeous red headed women were needed for the murder victims. Our killer was partial. He kills them and leaves them by the side of the interstate.
OK, why does this even make a story? Because the killer was caught and killed a dozen years ago, and now the killings have started again. Uh oh. Copycat or did they make a mistake the first time and name the wrong man as the killer?
Christine has the privilege of being haunted by the ghost of the man who was supposedly the killer. Jed wrote a fictional book based on the real case and now is starting to think he was wrong in his assessment of who the killer was. It is a pretty small cast of characters: Christine, Jed, the ghost, the ghost's sister, Christine's cousins and her next door neighbors. Some peripheral characters. But it was hard to figure out who the killer was. I really didn't know until the end, I kept changing my mind about who it was. In this way the book was well done. But overall, you know, just one of those books you read for its entertainment value and then forget.
