Another classic horror story of which I have multiple copies. If you haven't yet read this I would suggest you do, it's amazing.

Wow! It's an extended Christmas for me, this the first bookcrossing package I've opened in 2009. Thank you SO much for offering me this Danielle23 - so very kind of you. It was listed as one of Khaled Hosseini's all time best books, and after I heard it elsewhere mentioned on a radio program, my curiosity was awakened. And I love the quite cheesy cover - definitely not a book I'd usually pick up!

When I packed this in my luggage to take with me to the northernmost part of Finland this Christmas, little did I know I'd find in it a connection with the frozen north! That came as a real surprise, and I was reminded too of my great grandfather's trips into the Northwest Passage at the end of the 19th century. I haven't ever seen anything other than the odd clip or photo from the film, but I resolved to read this next as I am due to see it on stage at the Southbank in February. The book itself has no biographical information on the author, but she's certainly worth looking up. How incredible to know that she wrote this aged 19!! And in 1818 I think it was... It is less of a horror story and more of a psychological tragedy than I expected. Fun too to read something that so blatantly ignores certain details of reality or feasibility! I was surprised that Frankenstein is not the name of the monster, rather his creator. Fantastic writing - thank you so much Danielle23. I'll keep this to offer to my fellow theatre-goers, and if there's no taker, will release.
