Along with Saul Bellow's Herzog, Philip Roth's Portnoy's Complaint defined Jewish American literature in the 1960s. Roth's masterpiece takes place on the couch of a psychoanalyst, an appropriate jumping-off place for an insanely comical novel about the Jewish American experience.

Got it! Thanks a lot, I'll start reading it next week.
I've enjoyed this reading. It is not an easy book, being a monologue in form of a huge analysis, but it is very readable at the same time... I felt a lot of things during the book for the main caracther: disgust, pity, shame... but couldn't help liking him as well. Thanks a lot to jmg49 for sending me this book.
Received this as an RABCK. Thanks! I can't wait to read it.
