Am I a bookworm or not? I went downtown today to get my winter boots fixed (there's snow here and it's -5C) ... but there was a long queue at the cobblers so I nipped into the bookstore and picked this up. I mean I have to have something to do while I wait don't I? I don't know how long I waited but I read two chapters - McCall Smith is a fun author and I was glad to use a gift voucher to buy this. The shop assistant told me I have about 1½ books left on the card - if I wait until the sales maybe even more :) Sunday Times Scotland 'There is a timelessness to the tales, yet they are also of the moment' Product Description As winter turns to spring across the red earth, acacia trees and slow green rivers of Botswana, all is not quite as it should be on Zebra Drive, home to Mma Ramotswe and her beloved husband Mr J. L. B. Matekoni. At the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency there are the usual number of cases to be pursued, ...Tender, witty and wise, the latest instalment in the lives of Alexander McCall's Smith's extended Botswana family instructs us with familiar modesty in the importance of trust, love, not judging by appearances and what really makes a good husband.

I wonder if McCall Smith is losing his touch. This wasn't as funny or as interesting as the previous books in this African detective series. I thought Mr. Matekoni playing detective and his reaction to that photograph was very interesting though.
