Journal Entry 3 by dvg from Flanders, New Jersey USA on Monday, January 26, 2009
What a great surprise in my mailbox today! Thank you so much randomelement for filling one of my wishlist books in the HGG thread! So wonderfully generous and thoughtful! =) I'm so happy and excited to receive this book. I added this to my wishlist after reading a blurb in a New York paper's book review. It seemed like a fun read by a NY author with a story written in NYC. How could I resist?! (Born & Bred NYer here, who followed the natural progression to NJ.) I'm doing the happy dance! Can't wait to finish my current read. =) UPDATED 21FEB09: Got the notice of the JE and noticed I didn't put my comments on the book! lol. Here it is: This was a fairly new author for me to read. I read High Maintenance by Jennifer Belle a while back (her second book) and I enjoyed it more than this one. This was her first book and I did like it. I was intrigued by the subject of the book. I like how Belle made it seem so simple how the character became a call girl. I liked reading about some of the struggles she encountered in her life. She was funny and sad. I liked the ending. I think the only thing I really found 'fault' with was the fact that the character was a call girl; she seemed to be removed from what she was doing for a living until she thought she was going to lose the person she loved. But if the character wasn't that the story wouldn't be there and I wouldn't have wanted to read it in the first place! lol. It was a fun book to read, moved along quickly and Belle left no stone unturned in the story. It was absolutely well written and I do look forward to reading more books by Belle.
