Once again, Dr. Scarpetta, Chief Medical Examiner, finds herself on the hunt for a serial killer, when the body of an elderly, dismembered woman is discovered in a Virginia landfill. Moreover, a mutated, high tech, small pox variant virus appears to be on the loose, and Dr. Scarpetta finds herself receiving taunting emails from the alleged killer, signing as "deadoc". Couple all this with an overly ambitious and unscrupulous law enforcement agent named Percy Ring who arrests an obviously innocent man for the elderly woman's death, and the reader has an intriguing mystery to unravel.

I really enjoyed reading this book, Patricia Cornwell and her "Kay Scarpetta" were a discovery for me. From the beginning I liked the narrator Kay Scarpetta and found her personal story interesting, which for me is important in a crime novel. The case she is dealing with in this book isn't really what I like reading, but still it didn't get too bad. In the end there were some things I found illogical, but that wasn't too important, either. So, I will see if I can get other Kay-Scarpetta-novels.

Auffrischung: Am 16.08.2009 habe ich das Buch auf der Nils Holgerson in eine Skulptur gesteckt- einige Zeit später
war es dann weg...und ich habe Helsinkemia nicht entdeckt! Schade!

Found the book on the ferry from Trelleborg to Travemünde (actually my 2 year old son found it). I´m not sure if I have the time to read iit, but it will for sure travel on.

Jetzt habe ich unten die Einträge gelesen. Lustig; weit ist das Buch nicht gekommen, obwohl es eine große Reise hinter sich hat.
Ich hoffe es war schön in Finnland. Ich habe dort mal ein halbes Jahr Auslandsstudium gemacht.

Hab das Buch vor Längerem gelesen. Ganz interessant, aber nicht mein Stil.

Auf das öffentliche Bücherregal gestellt. Mal sehen, wie die Reise weiter geht. Ich denke, dass ist ein ganz guter Platz, an dem es nicht vollständig verloren geht.
