Journal Entry 1 by Kyrissaean from Littleton, New Hampshire USA on Monday, October 27, 2008
So, given the long list of books in the Breed series and their highly variable availablities, I jumped into this series with the first of the mmpb versions, Megan's Mark. And boy was a disappointed! Maybe I just wasn't in the mood, but it came off very strongly like a Christine Feehan novel with all the "Me Big Bad Male! Submit, female, and be glad I'm not treating you worse!" typically found in her books. Bah, I thought, I guess I can skip the rest of this series. Yet, when I picked this up to move it to a reserved pile, I somehow started glancing through the beginning anyway. And then I kept reading, and reading, and pretty much read through it one in one day. Much better! I really liked it! Maybe poor Megan was a fluke. This wasn't perfect, but I had a good time with it and now I'm interested in following the rest of the characters too. Sexy, good pacing, plenty going on to keep things moving.... Back to seeking out more of these again! Book Description: The runt of the lab she was created in, Dawn Daniels endured years of torture by her pride brother and the Council soldiers. Finally freed from her torment, she's now a Breed Enforcer, in control of her own life. Then she's assigned to protect the one man destined to be her mate - and realizes it's far too easy to lose total control. One of the Breeds' most important supporters, Seth Lawrence has spent years trying to forget Dawn, knowing that her lost innocence has made it impossible for her to get close to anyone. But suddenly neither of them can find the strength to fight the overwhelming passion between them. At least until the most brutal tormentor from Dawn's past reappears - and threatens to destroy their newfound love, along with their lives...
