Three years of the siege of Sarajevo, condensed into one month is how the author describes his efforts at telling part of the horrors of war. We follow 3 characters closely as they attempt to survive and maintain their humanity while trapped inside their once beautiful city. A haunting novel.

Arrived safe and sound while I was on vacation. It will take me a few days to get my head back into the real world. I'm in the middle of another book I was supposed to read on vacation and didn't. But this book will be next. Thank you!

Excellent read. I am ashamed at how much I didn't pay attention in the early 90's regarding Sarajevo.

I have the next address and the book will be on its way this weekend.

Galloway did an excellent job of capturing the human side of war. We so often forget that for people in a war zone, life goes on. Tasks that were once mundane become larger than life and overwhelming. It also changes their perspective about people and life. The cellist was an excellent representation of hope. While I feel it is morbid to say that I enjoyed this book, it definitely was a book that I am glad that I have read.

I have the address of the next reader and will send on to them.

Happy News!! The book just arrived yesterday!! The postmark said 11-14 so it took over a month to reach Miami - a record breaking speed I'd say. I am so glad it arrived as we almost gave it up for good. Yay yay!!

First off, sorry that I have kept my book for over a month, way longer than the norm and my personal standard, but other books and things kept getting in the way.
This is an excellently crafted book, capturing perfectly and powerfully the humanity of people living during a war. Arrow is such a great character, although for the other two males, it took me some time not to get them mixed up as the story switchs back and forth from different viewpoints. I am very glad to be part of this ring.
JDT wishes to skip so I will mail this to ladyofunicorns as soon as I hear back from her.

I received this in the mail and am looking forward to reading it. I have a few bookrings/rays ahead of it but it shouldn't take me long to get to it. As soon as I have read it, I will make another entry.
