artist trading cards edition 298ARTIST NORBERT: SCHWEIZ CH-3008 BERN Deutsch: Zahlen, Namen, Farben, Verbote - die gebetsmühlenartig um sich selber kreisen. Die Gedichte von Norbert Klassen sind einfach und monoton - und gerade deshalb von eindringlicher Intensität. Takt und Tonhöhe bleiben konstant. Wortketten - im Prinzip durchaus sinnvoll - scheinen sich durch den Vortrag aufzulösen, beinahe so als würde der Performancekünstler die Zahlen und Buchstaben kraft seiner Stimme aus ihrem Zusammenhang reißen. Die Gedichte von Norbert Klassen dienen als Grundlage für das von Markus Seidl komponierte Stück "Sinnfrei". Vier Tonwerkzeuge hat der in Wien und Linz lebende Künstler zur Bearbeitung gewählt: Lautstärke, Panorama, Geschwindigkeit und Tonhöhe. Bereits im Fluß befindliches treibt durch Markus Seidls Überarbeitung nun endgültig auseinander. Der Hörer wird so geballt & gehäuft mit Worten bedacht daß nach und nach der Sinn - so er jemals da war - in den Hintergrund tritt. Es ist ein Universum aus Silben des ewig gleichklingenden und doch immer verschiedenen. Mit einem Wort: Sinnfrei. English: Numbers, Names, Colors, Prohibitions - the thoughts circle around themselves. The poetry of Norbert Klassen are simple and monotone - and because of this they are hauntingly intense. Tact and pitch remain constant. Word chains - in principle absolutely reasonable - seem to liquidate through the recitation, almost as if the performance artist, with the power of his voice, would rip the numbers and letters out of their coherence/contiguity. The poetry of Norbert Klassen serve as a basis for "Sinnfrei", a composition by Markus Seidl. The artist, who lives in Vienna and Linz, has chosen four sound tools for processing: Volume, Panorama, Speed and Pitch. This situated flux drifts conclusively apart through Markus Seidl's revision. The listener will be heaped and piled with words, pushing meaning - if any - more and more into the background. It is a universe of syllables of infinite similarity but also difference. artist trading cards edition 298ARTIST JAN A LOEFFLER: COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80907 - USA Deutsch: Es war einmal .... ein Mann (das bin ich) und eine Frau (das ist mein Weib Evelyn) auf der Heimfahrt ins Tessin, dem südlichen Kanton der Schweiz, wir wohnten damals in Aldesago, einem kleinen Bergdorf hoch über der Stadt Lugano. Wir machten einen Halt auf dem Nufenen-Pass (2478 m / 8130 ft). Es war September (1993), schon richtig kalt, es hatte ein wenig geschneit in der Nacht zuvor. Die Aussicht über das Tal war überwältigend, die Berggipfel schienen “überzuckert”. Ausser uns zwei, dem Auto und der wundervollen Aussicht gab Steine, grosse und kleine Brocken, Teile der steilen Felsen auf dem Nufenen. It was funded during the Whitlam era by the Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council for the Arts. The Australia Council's objective was to place contemporary Australian art in communities which had been overlooked in the past. The sculpture is an example of a classic formalist work by one of the early practitioners of the style in Australia.
