Journal Entry 1 by bigcurlyloz from Fordham, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Sunday, November 09, 2008
A bit preposterous as usual, but light and diverting all the same. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Becky Brandon is back – with a bump! Becky's life is blooming. She's working at London's newest fashion store, The Look, house-hunting with husband Luke (her secret wish is a Shoe Room)... and she's pregnant! She couldn’t be more overjoyed – especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery…to the latest, coolest pram…to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician. But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be her husband Luke’s glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky’s perfect world starts to crumble. She’s shopping for two…but are there three in her marriage?

A great and huge THANK YOU, Loz! This is extremely generous of you, to send me the entire (!) Shopaholic series. I have previously read only one of them in the original (English) version, and one in the German translation. I so want to read those again, and I am also very curious about how it all started (I don't know the first three books yet). You made my day, Loz! Many, many thanks!

Now this one made me laugh out loud in many places. A really funny book! In my opinion probably the best book in the Shopaholic series, although the first one, The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic, comes very, very close. Thanks again so much for sharing these with me!!!

Journal Entry 5 by solskinn at Wien - irgendwo / Vienna - somewhere, Wien Austria on Monday, November 08, 2010
Shopaholic Book Spiral! Here's how the book spiral works: I send book #1 to the first person on the list. After the person has read this book they send it on to the person after them on the list. Meanwhile I'll send out book #2 to the first person. And so on. It is really easy! - Just like 5 bookrings in a line. The books I am offering for this book spiral are: Book #1: The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholik (aka Confessions of a Shopaholic) Book #2: Shopaholic Abroad (aka Shopaholic Takes Manhattan) Book #3: Shopaholic Ties The Knot Book #4: Shopaholic and Sister Book #5: Shopaholic and Baby All books have been written by Sophie Kinsella. The first two volumes have been made into a movie ("Confessions of a Shopaholic" starring Isla Fisher). There is a 6th book out just now, called Mini Shopaholic, which I haven't got a hold of for the book spiral yet. If you're interested in joining this book spiral, please post in this thread including your location and shipping preferences, or send me a PM. I will only accept members who had at least 25 bookcrossing books coming in or going out of their home so far, and who were active members of bookcrossing for the past few months. If you notice a known staller on the list, please let me know about it (privately, via PM). - You see, I really want this book spiral to work, and for everyone on the list to get the chance to read these books. The time frame for reading each book is 1 month. If you're not able to do this, then please don't sign up. When the books have reached the last person on the list they will come back to me until I have decided where they'll go next. I will only accept people to take part in the entire book spiral, books 1 to 5. Enjoy! Shipping list: 01. lady-anglophile - Kuwait 02. penelopewanders - Switzerland (Euro shipping only) 03. Minnamaria - Finland (Euro shipping preferred) 04. seayork2002 - UK (as of March: Australia) 05. NMReader - USA (US shipping only)

Not sure why this went to minnamaria before me, but anyway, it's now here in the Alps and once I've read it I think I send it back to Finland... This was waiting when I returned from holiday... a bit of catching up to do workwise, and then I look forward to reading this, the last in the series. Thanks for making these available and for sending!

Journal Entry 12 by penelopewanders at Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Saturday, April 30, 2011
As with the previous books in this series, it takes me a while to get over my initial mixture of irritation and disbelief (is there some contempt mixed in there as well?)... Although as others have commented, she has toned down a bit, her lack of accountability (interestingly apropos here, actually) and the fact that she just rushes forward in foolishness drive me up the wall. At first I feared that as with the wedding venue in the previous book she would double-book ob-gyns, but that pitfall was avoided. I found myself caught up with the story once Luke meets Venetia Carter and that part of the intrigue starts up. And then I was turning pages rapidly through to the end. The scene where she goes to confront Venetia at the hospital was very funny... So on the one hand I've enjoyed these books and have had fun reading them, on the other I guess I'd have a lot more affinity with someone like Jess than Becky, so have issues with her rampant consumerism - which is, after all, the whole point of these books! I do like the way, almost in spite of herself, she has the occasional brilliant idea and manages to save the day. Thanks so much for making this series available. I'll be sending this and the previous one on as soon as I've had the address confirmed.
