When I started this book, I thought to myself "Wow, the author is sort of annoying". And then I read on and realized that Jen Lancaster was a lot like a couple of my friends. Granted, like the friends that are a little crazy and that I roll my eyes at their antics. But the writing was enough to get me to check out her blog "Jennsylvania" which does occasionally amuse me.

My Review: I've read this book before, it's fantastic! It's a bit like Laurie Notaro, even though Jen Lancaster's life is very different from mine, it's a real story and she puts herself out there even if it makes her look not so great.

It's here! I am looking forward to reading this book.
Bitter is the New Black is Jen Lancaster's memoir of living the high life and then having the carpet pulled out from under her. Even though Jen is very much a bitch, her unemployment humbles her (somewhat) and she gains appreciation for life's basic necessities. Told with wit, sarcasm, and honesty, this memoir was hard to put down.

Arrived in the mail yesterday. Thanks Aberpeter!
I felt that maybe Jen "grew" or "matured" through her experience of being unemployed. She went from a six figure income to no income. She came to the realization of how foolish she had been with the money she had and what she could have had instead of the "junk" she had spent her money on.
I found the book was hard to put down.
