Thank you Smurphie for this book, postcard and bookmark! I enjoy reading Agatha Christie on long journeys as her books are engrossing, yet don't require too much concentration. I'll look forward to reading this on the train sometime.
How incredibly apt... This Christie novel is set on a stationary train which has been left stranded by snowdrifts with all the passengers effectively trapped on board. So I read it on a train journey down to Yorkshire where - yes you've guessed it - the train ended up stationary, stranded by signal problems for several hours, meaning that all we passengers were effectively trapped on board.
It was for that reason that I'm particularly grateful to Agatha Christie for writing a story which is so tricky and engrossing. I was heartily annoyed with myself for not spotting the final twist (which was read five minutes before the train FINALLY pulled into Doncaster station). However, I congratulate Poirot on his unerring ability to find out the wrongdoers.
So thank you again Smurphie. Your rabck saved my sanity during a very stressful journey!

I must have seen the TV version of this a dozen times, but it was still good to read the book. The style is well written and it's interesting to read it from a social history perspective. Agatha Christie's books are 'of her time' and give an insight to a way of life that has gone.
Will bring to the next meetup I attend
