1962 Dell First Edition paperback compilation with a 60 cents cover price, of 73 of Hemingway's best articles, as they were first published in his early writing career, as a newspaper journalist. These all appeared in the widely popular Toronto Star Weekly, while Hemingway worked at that newspaper between the years 1920 and 1923. Most of these articles are fascinating short slices of the wildly thrilling early 1920s, as experienced by Hemingway. From nascent Prohibition gangsterism in Chicago, to hyperinflation and growing nationalism in defeated Germany, to bullfighting in Spain and trout fishing in Canadian and European rivers, Hemingway experienced it all while on assignment for the Star throughout the world. This book was a fun read, published in the year after the author used one of his hunting shotguns to take his own life in the mountains of Idaho. I got this book from my dad, who had originally bought it new in 1962. I have had it sitting on my shelf for decades, but it's getting a bit frayed and broken by now, so I am going to let it go into the wild.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

... the library is still there, but the free books box is long gone, after major building renovation some years ago. Of course this ancient paperback surely never survived its first season out there. It's an extreme rarity, which does not show up much on lists of the author's published works, long out of print. Prices run pretty high into double digits for old used copies. So if anybody has this, it's valuable. But I am purging it out of the system now as a certain lost cause.

And please visit the next meetup of TriValley BookCrossing group, at Panera Bread in Dublin, the second Tuesday of each month.

And if you are now hoping to catch or release another book, but don't know where, check out my home page for a full list of all the local Little Free Libraries and other great release zones, where books can be safely left and found!
