It arrived today a long with another book which is SO unfair :-( But, I will mail it to the next person as soon as I finish reading it!
Thanks for the little gift inside :-)
I don't know what to say about this book. The narration was a big turn off for me. It is so descriptive to the extent of boredom!
I've seen the movie and it was GREAT and I really ENJOYED it A LOT! But, the book was a bit boring althought it explained some of the things that left unmentioned in the movie!
I recommend the movie to those who hasn't seen it yet :-)
I will be sending the book tomorrow to "EmgeeNL" in The Netherlands.
Just got the book in the mail yesterday. Thanks for sending Lady-anglophile. And Smurphie thanks for ringing the book and the little gift. I will put it on the TBR stack. Because it is true that all the books arrive at the same time :(
15 December: Just finished reading the book. I liked it a lot. It is in deed verry perscriptive, but I enjoyed to read about the dark sides and crazyness of this men's brain. I have not seen the movie, but you should really read the book. Just sent a pm to the next person on the list so it can go on travelling.
The book arrived today, thanks EmgeeNL for sending it to me;) and thanks so much Smurphie for the postcard and the bookmark;)
Am just about to finish a book so I can start on this one tomorrow:)
Just finished the book, don´t know what to say, did not like it much. Like the others who read the book before me, I found it to be boring at times.
Will send the book home to Smurphie tomorrow:)

This is a great book! So much fun, and amusing. I was rooting for Grenouille all the way.

on its way to Whitehorsy in Belgium
The book arrived last Friday, thanks for sending ealasaidmae!
I think I'll be able to start reading this one in a day or two... and I'm looking forward to it! :-)
Thanks Smurphie for the surprises!!! ;-)
It seems I belong to the part of the readers who found this book pretty good. :-) I had already seen the movie and knew what to expect. But as always with books, they tell so much more. The descriptions about the processing of 'scents' in the perfumeries was even quite interesting.
Thanks for sharing Smurphie! The book is already packed up to travel further to DitteL in Denmark. If I'm not able to send it out this afternoon, I'll certainly do it on Monday.

A bit later as expected, due to a three day strike of the Postal Services, the book is now on it's way to DitteL in Denmark. :-)
Arrived yesterday. Thanks for sending it to me whitehorsy. And thanks for sharing Smurphie - and for the beautiful postcard and bookmark.
I've already read the first 100 pages and should be able to finsih it within this week.
Don't really know what to think of this one. I found the first half of the book boring, but it got better towards the end. I like that the author has chosen not only to focus on Grenouille but also focuses on some of the other characters and what they are thinking. That made the book a bit more interesting.
I've contacted the next person on the list and is now awaiting a PM with their address.

On its way to the next reader...
This arrived safely from Denmark about a month ago - I'm very sorry that it's taken me so long to read it, and also that I forgot to journal until now! I really enjoyed this book - I thought it very much like a sort of twisted fairy tale. The fact that it was based upon the power of scent was fascinating, as smell is such an integral part of life and is highly evocative. I did find it dragged a bit in the middle, but picked up at the end. I would be very interested to see the film having read the book - I deliberately didn't see it when it came out as I wanted to read the book first. Will send it on as soon as I have an address.
Received the book a few days ago looking forward to reading it.
Sent the book home on 18th , wishing it a safe trip .
Arrived homw quite a few days ago but then we fried the modem in a thunderstorm so only now catching up.
Thank you to all who took part in this ring.

Good Luck to Book 2 :)
Arrived today, will read and pass on asap.
This was a re-read for me. I found the story even more interesting the second time around. The details about the perfume making was fascinating, and I love how the author took that, added the murderer Grenouille and made him the focus. Distillation of a human essence is an awesome idea.
Will be mailing to the next on the list as soon as I have an address.
received in the mail, will be posting this on as soon as possible.
